Michaela Broeckx

is your Master of Hospitality at our headquarters at Bayt al-Andalus (Antwerpen, Belgium). She has been with Beyond Borders since its inception, and she has helped in developing all the directions in which the company has evolved ever since.

Michaela started her career as an Asian Studies specialist, reading Cuneiform, Arabic and Hindi. Armed with an MA in Middle Eastern Studies and an MA in Pedagogy, she moved to Damascus in Syria, where she lived and studied for more than a year, before proceeding to Muscat (in the Sultanate of Oman) to join the launch team at Nawras (Omani Qatari telecommunications Company), developing and delivering training in communication and intercultural custserv as well as in systems and applications. With this background, the three professional paths she was to take, lay before her: Intercultural Studies, Training Development, and Applications Training.

Later, at UAMS (University of Antwerp Management School), Michaela obtained a third MA degree, this time in Arts Managament, permitting her in her professional life to facilitate state-of-the-art management and training & development practices in the world of cultural institutions both in Belgium and abroad. 

Michaela plays the viol (viole de gambe), sings, and did a master class in Bharatanatyam with Komala Varadan, one of India's foremost performing artists. She is married with a daughter, and when not on assignment abroad lives at Bayt al-Andalus in Antwerpen (belgium).
